Application Assistant

Chancenkarte.com is an independent information portal. We aim to help you come to Germany, find a job and stay here. We are not government-funded and want to stay that way – fast and agile to serve your needs.  Below you find a collection of recommendations that we think are relevant for you and will help you obtain your Chancenkarte more quickly. Some of the links below are so called “affiliate links”. If you end up buying a service from one of the recommended sources, we will get a small compensation. This helps us covering some of the costs of this portal.

Recommendations

Get mandatory health insurance

You need proof of health insurance before you can apply for a Chancenkarte. If you have an employment contract (not Minijob!) that starts on exactly your day of entry, you do not need a separate insurance. However, in most cases you will need to cover at least a few days between your arrival in Germany and your first working day. A health insurance offering that is definitely accepted by the embassies can be booked through our partner Fintiba.

Health insurance from Fintiba (MAWISTA Expatcare)

To live and work in Germany, you are legally required to have health insurance: Our health insurance partner Fintiba will make this process as simple as possible for you. Once you have a 20 hours per week job, you can discontinue your health insurance and rely on the publicly funded health insurance instead. MAWISTA Expatcare costs 69 Euro (€) per month. Charges prior to migration into Germany are limited to one month. Remember you have to book for the full duration of your stay (one year).

Get competent legal advice

Starting a new life in a foreign country is always a challenge and involves a lot of effort and legal hurdles. Do not hesitate to seek competent legal advice if you have any legal questions.

Chancenkarte legal advise from law firm Maibaum

Despite simplified regulations, the laws are complex and can be difficult for immigrants to understand. Legal advice from our partner lawyers specializing in immigration law can help you clarify important questions and get off to a good start in Germany. Contact the law firm MAIBAUM Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH for an initial legal consultation!

Consultation
After completing all the preparations, you can officially apply for the Chancenkarte! Your Chancenkarte application should normally be made via the German embassy or consulate in your country. It is possible that the embassy or consulate relevant to you has not yet set up an application process for the Chancenkarte. The best way to find out is to contact your embassy or consulate directly. You can find the embassy relevant to you on the website of the German Federal Foreign Office:
Check government website for online application

The German government is also working on an online application procedure. Visit the website to check whether it is already available for you.
